The Portuguese Taido Association (APT), together with the Lagos City Council (CML) and the municipal company Lagos em Forma (LEF), is organizing a historic event for martial arts in Portugal on July 26th and 27th: the 10th European Taido Championship, which will be held at Júlio Dantas Secondary School in Lagos.
The program begins on July 26th at 9:00 am with the first Junior World Games and the sixteenth International Friendship Games, a competition that allows athletes from countries outside Europe to participate, fostering a spirit of unity and cultural exchange in Taido. The following day, July 27th, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, the 10th European Taido Championship will take place, bringing together the best European practitioners of the sport.
This event brings together athletes from across Europe and invited countries, promoting the spirit of Taido. Parallel to the championship, there are international seminars with guest masters from Finland, Sweden, France, Denmark, and Japan, including Yuetsu Tanaka (8th Dan and former president of the World Taido Federation) and Tomokazu Kaneko (5th Dan and 2023 World Champion in Combat and instructor in Portugal from 2002 to 2003 at the IST dojo and the Academy of Sciences in Lisbon).
Admission is free for residents and paid for visitors who wish to attend the competitions and learn more about this dynamic and philosophical Japanese martial art.
